Rocket Balloons

Last Thursday, Caleb went to the mailbox to find a package with his name on it! Within the envelope was a package of Rocket Balloons. Caleb couldn't wait for his chance to try them out! After a week of waiting, he would finally get his chance!
Caleb posing for a pic with his Rocket Balloons from Grandma Sandy and Papa Dave. He opened the package in the garage because he couldn't wait until he got into the house!

Rocket Balloons would require Daddy's assistance and a wide open space, so it was off to Windmill Park. Caleb and Daddy are holding the balloon prior to launch.

This one balloon made several trips into "space" before finally popping!

Happy Birthday Daddy

On Wednesday, March 28th, we celebrated Matt's 33rd Birthday! While Daddy was at work, Caleb created a card and I baked a cake. We also made confetti and a sign for the front door. Caleb stood lookout in his room. When he saw Daddy round the corner, we hid and waited for our chance to jump out and say, "Surprise!"

Easter Photo Shoot

Last night we went to Windmill Park to take pictures of Caleb in his new Easter outfit. It was one of those evenings where just getting him dressed and to the park was a huge undertaking. He insisted on taking his lawnmower because the grass would surely need to be mowed. With camera in one hand and lawnmower in the other, we were finally ready to take some pictures. By this time, we were minutes away from sunset and would need to work fast. As you can see below, attempting to keep him focused for a few pics was also a challenge. Among the many distractions, we still managed to captured a few great pictures. I was thrilled! It was great fun, and Caleb even had time to mow the grass and play at the playground!

Fishing for Turtles

Over the weekend, we were blessed to spend time with Matt's brother, Mark. On Saturday, we ventured toward campus for the 4th Avenue Street Fair. The sights and sounds of the fair were interesting to say the least! After our fill of fair atmosphere, we took Uncle Mark to a much anticipated lunch at Jimmy John's! Matt then led us across campus to a fish pond where Caleb found the biggest stick possible and started "fishing"! The main attraction, however, would be turtles.

Next up on National Geographic, Caleb talks turtle!

And that concludes today's lesson.

March Madness

March Madness has begun! We are now part of the Arizona Wildcat family, but we are Michigan State Spartans first! The NCAA tournament began this week and our family kicked it off with a pizza party picnic in our living room Friday night. We dressed in Spartan gear, ordered take out from Pizza Hut and staked claim to a section of picnic blanket (Caleb's monkey beach towel)!

I've got SPIRIT, how about you?

Enjoying the day's last rays of sunshine prior to the start of the game.

Wow! Look Mom!

These cinna sticks are so yummy!

Caleb leaned over and whispered, "You're the best Mommy in the whole world!" It might have been the cinna sticks talking, but I didn't care.  I will remember this moment forever!

Fun in the sun

Thursday was a fun filled day in the sun! Many of our days are spent in the sun, but this weekend would bring cooler temps, rain and snow capped mountains. We would soon be swapping weather with our friends and family in Michigan!

This tractor belonged to my brother, Matthew, when he was young. My grandpa (Pa) made the wagon that he's pulling. Caleb spotted it in Grandma and Papa's garage last summer, and before you knew it, Caleb was riding it. Papa Dave and Grandma Sandy let him take it to Arizona, and he's been on many "adventures" with it ever since!

St. Patty's Day Cards

On Tuesday, March 13th, Caleb created St. Patrick's Day cards for his grandparents.
Caleb decorated the cards with crayons and stickers.

He used a stamp pad to make his signature hand print.

Off to the mail box with his one-of-a-kind creations!

Packages from home

Nothing brings a bigger smile than a package from home! Yesterday, Caleb received just that! Except this time he was seeing double! He received a package from Papa Dave & Grandma Sandy and Papa Bob & Gram!  Both packages contained M&M's and stickers, and he had just hit the jackpot!

He was instantly covered in stickers and wondering how long before he could have a treat.

A BIG Thank You to Papa Bob, Gram, Papa Dave & Grandma Sandy!
We love and miss you!

Caleb wasn't the only one to receive a package on Thursday. Matt also received  a package from the Sports Turf Managers Association congratulating him on achieving Certified Sports Field Manager status! He took the certification exam in January of this year at the Sports Turf Conference in Long Beach, CA.

Discovery of the week

On Thursday, March 8th, Caleb and I set out for Windmill Park. Windmill Park has a beautiful grass field where Caleb is free to run. He really misses having a lawn, so this park is a real treat! On the way, we discovered another park perfect for little guys! It was a cooler day, perfect for a walk.
Let's see what this new park has to offer!
Checking to see if the slide has "pickers". Caleb calls a shock from static electricity a picker.

Look Mommy, just my size!

The new park is a hit!
At last, Windmill park!
Caleb played ball in the grass and met a pug named Buster.
A little refueling before hitting the slides and completing our 3.5 mile loop!
