Fools Hollow State Park

Fall was here, and the White Mountains were calling. Despite the long term forecast predicting cold evening temps, our adventurous spirits won out! We made our reservation! We couldn't pass up the opportunity to escape to the cool crisp mountain air, the smell of pine, evenings around the campfire and outdoor family adventures! Our campsite created the ideal setting for Caleb to play Hotshot. He busied himself with woodland rescues and creating firebreaks. Caleb's adventurous spirit grew this trip as he and Daddy climbed rocks and discovered new paths to reach the lake. As a family, we hiked along the lake and through the woods marveling at God's creation. Caleb collected nature's treasures all along the way. We made a side trip to the Petrified Forest National Park. We drove the 28 mile park road which began at the Painted Desert, crossed Route 66 and ended in the Petrified Forest. It was a fascinating experience and the views were breathtaking! Caleb was even given the opportunity to become a Junior Ranger, and by completing a series of activities he earned his badge! The beauty of each day was rivaled only by that of the evening sky. Our getaway was refreshing, renewing and the recharge this family needed!
