The Tucson Festival of Books has something for everyone!
For children, it is where storybook characters come to life, stories unfold on stage and their imaginations are sparked through activities and giveaways!
Last year, instead of attending the book festival, we were visiting urgent care with Caleb. The festival came around again this year, and it seemed as if a new family tradition was taking shape. Thursday evening, prior to the festival, there we sat in the waiting room....again.
Daddy had to be on campus Saturday, and he sent Caleb numerous pics of some of his favorite storybook characters: Curious George, Clifford, Berenstain Bears and Llama Llama. All Caleb wanted to do was attend the festival. Caleb waited with great anticipation. Would he be well enough on Sunday to attend or would he miss out again this year?
Sunday came and Caleb was indeed feeling better. We met Daddy on campus and set out for hours of fun with thousands of other people! Caleb met storybook characters, colored a book bag, received a super hero cape, picked out a free book, watched "The Three Javelinas" on stage, and enjoyed hot mini doughnuts! A whirlwind of fun!
Unfortunately, too much excitement often leads to over stimulation and a worn out little boy. This day was no exception. Our good day came to an end with Caleb kicking and screaming all the way back across campus! He had had enough. Within minutes of buckling him in his carseat, he was fast asleep.
I can't wait to do it all over again next year!
